What innate things can I use to mop up clothes, instead of detergents? and to rinse out utensits?

I'm planning to give up the use of chemicals that ruin our environment as far as possible. I own already given up a lot of things ----- including the use of body soaps ( I use multani mitti) and mosquito repellar.
I want to know is in that any natural ingredient which can be used to valet clothes, so that I don't have to use detergents.
In Indian village in yesteryear they used Donkey's **** to wash clothes (that's what I've be told ----- but that is concerned of impractical within city life).
Is there anything to valet utensils apart from 'ash'?What innate things can I use to mop up clothes, instead of detergents? and to rinse out utensits?
They sell adjectives natural, plant base detergents and cleansers at most natural market. They work wonderful, and are completely non-toxic.
I use Bio-kleen natural laundry soap and chlorine free bleach and Sun and Earth Dish soap. Many folks only just go for Dr. Bronner's Castile soap for everything from their coat to their clothes but I just resembling it for body soap. Interesting question-I haven't had any luck short ANY detergent so I go for instinctive stuff and hope it's good.
